Ive long wanted to design a set of games room products. It must be a crush shared by many designers. In early 2016, the opportunity presented itself at Opendesk. One thing always nagged me about Foosball tables in particular – Tables available at an accessible price point are awful to look at. Those that are mildly attractive are too costly.
By designing a Foosball table that can be made (almost) entirely on a CNC machine, it was possible to share the manufacturing assets via the Opendesk platform, enabling anyone with access to a well equipped makerspace to produce the table themselves at a very reasonable price. The result is a design conscious Foosball table, perfect for domestic or light commercial use that can be distributed as a digital file, and made in makerspaces anywhere in the world.
