Layout Table
Created for Opendesk in 2015, the Layout Table is designed to be manufactured via Opendesk’s network of independent fabricators. Because the table exists as a digital file, it can be distributed as software and not heavy pieces of wood, cutting out shipping and logistics, creating a more human-centric supply chain.
The Layout Table is ideal for creative users, it’s wide open worktop perfect for drawing, model making, and writing. The Table comes with 3 tool trays, each with different storage capabilities. Pick your favourite based on the stationery you use most, be it fine liners, sketching pencils or drafting compasses. One tool tray slots neatly into the table just below the work surface ready for easy access.
The worktop can be removed and flipped, allowing both sides to be used- a great way to keep messy tasks and neat working separate. Keep one side clean for general work and the other ‘spoil side’ messy model making or sketching.
The first Layout Table prototypes were made by hand using printed templates and a hand-held jigsaw/ router. Once the table's proportions and details were perfected the final design was drawn up in CAD before detailed manufacturing blueprints were produced.
